This is a photograph of an hourglass tattooed on a forearm. Time ......... It's always running out. Where does it all go? Sometimes it takes forever to kill 15 minutes and sometimes 15 minutes goes by in the blink of an eye. Time is disappearing along with everything else in this world from the rain forests to the polar bears to the Ozone. Time is like money. There is never enough of it because it is always running out, everyone wants more, and its never worth wasting by arguing. Right?
Timing is everything. We are so impatient sometimes, that we have forgottent hat patience is a virtue. We always want everything as of yesterday. Sometimes we forget there is no substitute to timing. Now to those who know me, I am NOT at all religious! Never have been, never will be. But I have had to many events in my life occur that there has been no other explanation other than devine intervention. The timing for too many events in my life have finally gotten to believe that God may exist. Notice I did not say he does exist, I said he MAY exist. I heard this on the radio one day:
How do we wait?
We wait with our full weight put down on God.
And know that He is doing something supernatural...... marvelous.
If we will just learn to wait, they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.
They will mound up with wings as eagles, they will run, they will run, and they will not get tired or winded.
They will walk and they will never get exhausted.
That's what happens.
That's what happens.
What He gives to you and to me when we wait.
We wait and we wait.
He's doing things.
He's working in ways that would astound us.
When we wait by faith on the Lord.
Good things come to those who wait. You don't have to believe in God to understand that PATIENCE and TIMING are extremely IMPORTANT in life. Time waits for no man. Time is the most valuable asset in our lives. Sometimes you kill time and wish you could have it back. Time is of the essence. Time is money. Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slipping into the future. Time can leave us with regrets or fill us with joy. Time can take us back to memories as a worriless little boy. Time makes us age, and can even make us forget time is ticking. Time can be an ally or your biggest enemy. Where did all of the years go so quickly? Why is it so precious? Once time passes it can never be recovered. It seems like just yesterday, I was holding my infant son in my arms, now he's five. Live for the moment, but try to plan for the future, because you never know where life will take you in such a shot period of time. Two roads diverged in the woods and I chose the one less traveled. Sometimes we are in a hurry to get where we are going, only to get there and sit and wait. If I die tomorrow, will she know I loved her? Only time will tell.

Although it has already been the title of a book, and it was the title of a movie that starred Ice Cube, today it is the title of my article. Are we there yet, are some of the most repeated words in our lives. Children are constantly wondering if they have reached their destination long before they are even close. I suppose it is the excitement of where they are headed that keeps them wanting to know if they are there yet. On the other hand, maybe it is the suspense of just having to wait patiently wondering if they are ever going to reach their destination. A parent's response is usually, “I will tell you when we get there.” or, "We will get there when we get there!" The child then allows time to pass and eventually asks the question again, only to hear the same answer.
As adults, we are constantly asking the same question, just in different ways. Are we there yet, can have many different meanings in adulthood. Human nature has evolved and we have become less and less patient in waiting for things to unfold or for things to be accomplished. We easily get agitated and frustrated when things take longer than we expect them to, even if it is just fast food that took eight minutes instead of three.
Even after we have reached where we are going, there will always be another trip or another problem that needs a solution. There will always be a next, are we there yet. The conclusion is that we are never there yet, but we are always one step closer to reaching the solution, destination, or end. The more patience and discipline we can exert during the waiting process, the more character a person develops and the better a person becomes.
